Targhee is considered a fine wool, with a micron count of 21-25m most consider it "next to skin" soft. Targhee has a more matte finish, and takes dyes really well, enabling rich saturated colours. Targhee has a high crimp, creating a lofty, bouncy elastic yarn.
Great even for beginner spinners, Targhee has a bit more tooth than merino.
Targhee was developed in the US, originally developed by crossing Rambouillet, Corriedale, Columbia and Lincoln
